Small Groups - Connect with others

Many small groups are meeting online using Zoom, a video conferencing app. Please contact the church office if you would like more information. Meeting days/times may differ from what is listed below.

Life is not meant to be lived alone or lonely. The Christian life, especially, is meant to be lived out in community. As such, one of our core values is that "growing people grow with people."   • just a phase - sun 8:30am

    Every stage in a child's life brings something new. Get a jump start on the learning curve and support from other parents in this 8 week journey through "Just a Phase." Led by Pastor Amanda.

  • starting point - sun 9:00am

    Are you new to church, faith, or have you been away for a while? If so, then Starting Point is for you. Come and learn with others in the same stage of faith. Bring your questions. All are welcome! Beginning Sunday, March 15th.

  • the book of john - sun 11:30am

    Learn with others who attend the Church of the Nazarene using this traditional "Sunday school" material. This group is led by Ruth Ann Smith and is open to all.

  • Healthy relationships with adult children - Sun 11:30am

    Do you have children 18 or older? Learn how to navigate your relationships by keeping your "mouth shut" and the "welcome mat out." All parents are welcome!

  • Game night! - 1st Monday of the month 7:00pm

    If you enjoy board games, then this is the group for you! No commitment is required, but an RSVP is appreciated. Come have fun with Pastor Ajay & family. Meeting on the first Monday of every month at the Vyas home in Scarborough.

  • Esther - tues 10:30am

    Ladies, do you want to grow closer to God and connect with other women? Come to the church on Tuesdays at 10:30am for this small group Bible study. The group is led by Midge Shaw and is open to retired women.

  • north of 50 - tues 10:00am

    Maybe you've hit a new stage in life, maybe you've been there for a while. Either way, if you'd like to connect with ladies in the 50-65 age range and have some great interaction around spiritual topics, then this is the group for you. Led by Ellen Dunn and meeting in South Portland. We are currently studying the early Christian letters of the Bible.

  • Journeying with jesus toward the cross - tues 6:30pm

    The book of the Bible titled John will be our guide as we look at the life of Jesus as it pertains to his death on a cross. A great choice for the Christian season of Lent, this group meets at a home in South Portland. Email us for details.

  • Bible study fellowship - tues 6:45pm

    Want to go deeper into the Bible? Engage in this 4-fold approach that is sure to engage the brain as well as the heart. Ladies and students grades 1-12 meet here on Tuesday nights. Satellites available for men as well as ladies who would prefer a morning group. BSF is currently studying the book of Acts.

  • The Book of luke - wed 6:15pm

    Are you a woman wanting a Bible study, but need childcare? Come look at the book of Luke while your children participate in Caravan (birth - 5th) or Kindle (6th-12th). All ladies are welcome (parents and non-parents.) Led by Ellen Dunn.

  • Men's group - wed 6:15pm

    Men! Do you want to grow spiritually? The men's group meets Wednesday nights and is starting with the curriculum, "Circle Up." It's the perfect time to join! Childcare available through Caravan & Kindle if desired.

  • Mom's group - wed 6:15pm

    Being a mom is both the most amazing and most difficult task in the entire world. What can get us through it? Jesus and each other! Come be part of the community and learn practical parenting tips at the same time. This group is video based and no Bible knowledge is needed to participate. Our current study is, "TIME of Your Life: Making the Most of it."

  • 33 - men's Group - wed 6:15pm

    In the pursuit of authentic manhood, every man must understand and come to grips with the defining moments and key relationships that have shaped his unique "story." Come and be equipped to learn from your past, come alive in your present, and enjoy God's best in the future.

  • JOY lunch group - thurs 12pm

    The Just Older Youth Group is open to both retirees and adults who can take an extended lunch break. The JOY group meets on the third Thursday of each month. Locations vary from Cracker Barrel to Freeport Cafe. Email us to if you plan to attend so we can reserve your seat.

  • Breaking free - thurs 6:00pm

    This video study by Beth Moore is led by Pastor Cheryl and meets at the Scarborough Free Baptist Church.

  • healthy marriages - thurs 6pm & 7:30pm

    Invest in your marriage and grow closer to God with this small group led by Pastor Ajay and Julie Vyas. Meeting at their home in Scarborough and open to all couples. Two sessions are available: 6pm - 7:30pm or 7:30pm-9pm.

  • Prayer: does it make a difference? - thurs 6:30pm

    This video study encourages us to pray to God the Father who sees what lies ahead of us, knows what lies within us, and who invites us into an eternal partnership--through prayer. Led by Pastor Nancy & Frank Smith.

  • AA - Fri 6:30pm

    Alcoholics Anonymous meets weekly at 6:30pm on Fridays. All are welcome. No RSVP is needed. Come and gain support in your journey.

  • Wholehearted - 3 Life Changing commands of Jesus - sat 8:00am

    This men's group meets just once a month (the 1st Saturday) for continental breakfast and Bible/book study. Men 18 and older are welcome! We are done by 9:30am.
